Hayloft by Pineward
from $6.00

Hayloft: hay, lavender, honey*, crocus, sweet vernalgrass, bison grass, toasted almond, hazelnut, oats, dusty wheat.

Dusty loft where bundled bales of hay and straw are stored against winter. Seasons' preserve of sweet lavender honey and sacks of oats and red winter wheat. Created using a custom extracted base of hay, bison grass and sweetgrass. This extract resulted in a rough and gorgeous hay/sweetgrass/bison grass concrete, which was then filtered and evaporated to create a rich co-absolute. Two hay perfumes were created with this material: Hayloft & Hayride.

Parfum extrait+ compounded at 31%.

February 2025 version: dialed down the woody undertones, added more sweetgrass

Note: this is not the same as 'Hayloft EDT', which was a prototype that we had been including samples of with orders in 2024. Hayloft EDT is now available under the name "Shire".

Tome by Pineward
from $6.00

Notes: Parchment (nagarmotha), leather, sandalwood, cedar, Jade 403 (binding glue), vintage book accord, orris root, black tea, coffee, rice paper, ambrette, oakmoss, tobacco.

In the midst of a darkened library lies the Tome of the Unknown, dusty pages burdened with the weight of hidden knowledge and terrible secrets. It rests for now, waiting patiently for new victims to ensnare and spirit away to forgotten realms.

Woody elements of sandalwood and cedar mix with book smells of leather, paper and glue and are supported with the ambient scents of black tea, coffee, and tobacco. Tome features a vintage book accord that is based on headspace chemical analysis of old books and libraries.

KATABATIC by Pineward
$200.00

Katabatic: Swirling eddies of the frigid north wind, the driving gale that sweeps away dying vestiges of summer and boldly heralds the arrival of an early fall. A bracing, biting blend of minty birch breeze, spiced cypress, woods and mosses.
Notes: ruby cypress, camphor, birch leaf, ravintsara, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, bitter almond, red fir, cedarwood, sandalwood, orris root, dragon's blood resin, oakmoss.

A previously offered and long discontinued perfume inspired by Twin Peaks: The Return. We have obtained the original formula rights to this perfume, and while the original name is under trademark and cannot be mentioned, this new revival version is titled 'Snoqualmie'.

Shire EDT by Pineward
from $6.00

Notes: hay, oatmeal, hazelnut, bergamot, lavender, herbal tea, westfarthing leaf (tobacco), seed cake, jasmine, orris, and honey*.

The scent of field and glen covered in the golden grasses of harvest season. Shire started as a lighter re-imagining of Hayloft that ended up being fairly different and focuses more on the sweeter/coumaric facets of hay. The formula uses many of the same materials but in drastically different ratios and at a lighter concentration. I decided to give it a different name than Hayloft EDT as it felt like the final version was too different to be considered a flanker and there was some confusion about the name.

Eau de Toilette concentration

Note: the perfume is a lighter yellow than it appears in this picture.

PINEWARD PERFUMS

Pineward perfumes are crafted largely using heavily concentrated absolutes and should be tested on small patches of skin before further application. Alternatively they may be worn on dark-colored garments. The perfumes are alcohol-based (using 200 proof grain alcohol), containing a mixed medium of natural materials and aromachemical components for support and stability. A select few of the perfumes contain non-vegan materials and are marked as such on the respective product pages.
