n 1869, German chemists discovered heliotropin, a molecule reminiscent of the sweet, powdery scent of heliotrope flowers. In 1865, Alphonse Piver and his son Lucien ingeniously incorporated it into a creation with round, vanilla-infused, and enveloping notes. Thus, Héliotrope Blanc, the archetype of powdery fragrances, was born.
This legendary perfume has transcended time and continents, reaching the Caribbean islands, where its story still lingers today.

THE SCENT’S STORY
By 1892, the renowned Russian leather—whose origins date back to the 16th century—was widely praised for its durability and quality. Legend has it that soldiers treated leather with birch tar to make it waterproof. This practice gave birth to the leather note in perfumery, characterized by smoky, woody, and leathery aromas.

In 1774, Michel Adam, a perfumer-glovemaker from Versailles, opened a boutique in Paris, which he named “À la Reine des Fleurs.” The success was immediate, especially within the court of King Louis XVI. That same year, he created his first Eau de Cologne, named after the boutique: Eau de Cologne de la Reine des Fleurs. Adopted by Marie-Antoinette, it quickly became a must-have at court.
The formula was reinterpreted in 1874 to mark the house’s centenary, and has been carefully preserved ever since, now reintroduced for today’s audience.
